Sixteen year-old, Grace Legopelo’s The Believing Teenager will help her peers navigate through life’s rollercoaster given its insightful tips.
More of a munual of how to deal with teenage stage, Grace shares her life as a teenager, the challenges she faced which nearly destroyed her life but was able to circumvent them through her faith in God, self-retrospection, pastoral guidance and solid parental guidance. The Believing Teenager, published this year by Serowe based Heavenly Voice Publishers was alunched at Lobatse on Saturday.
Appending autographs in the copies to the first patrons at Cumberland, the Form 4 student at Lobatse Senior Secondary school said the book was dedicated to the youth and she wrote it as a believing teenager not as a perfect teenager as the book delved into the foundation of faith with chapters on the test of faith, the need for transformation, finding purpose through faith, and maintaining the life of faith.
Her publisher and coach, Ntlafatso Keitirile said she was in a nationwide project of identifying young talent, mentoring and publishing those who were below the age of 25. She said her organisation was in the mission of unearthing and raising young stars especially the young Christians. She identified Grace during a youth conference and noticed in her zeal and determination to be a better person.
Her father, Boitshwarelo Legopelo said Grace started showing writing skills at Form 1 when appointed a Sunday school teacher at a young age. She later became an interpreter during church sermons. He said from tender age it was evident that Grace would make something out of her life as her confidence was truly remarkable.
It was from sermon interpretation that Keitirile saw talent in Grace that has birthed The Believing Teenager. Legopelo was proud to announce that the young girl who used to follow him around to people’s homes where he used to maintain television sets ended up being able to maintain them and has now managed to publish a book.
The young woman, he said had proven to be a visionary ready to show her impact, and thus encouraged her to maintain an upright character which he noted could sustain her, “today, we are celebrating the journey of purpose, resilience, and faith,” he told a gathering of book buyers. ENDS
