Local artistes have been implored not to despair due to challenges they faced as it has never been easy to penetrate the entertainment industry and its market.
Resilience and consistent improvement in what they did was critical in ensuring that they prevailed and made it in the industry.
Renowned radio personality and Big Dawg Productions owner, Thato Sikwane, alias Dj Fresh, tipped the artistes on Thursday, citing that he spent more than five years looking for a job until he ultimately penetrated the market.
Speaking during the Season 2 of the Department of Broadcasting Services (DBS) Road Show Talent Search in Masunga Dj Fresh advised them to advertise themselves as well as their products adding that they should trust their products and leave the rest to God.
However, he advised them to listen to their inner being and also expressed his belief in the remarkable music talent within the country, urging the nation to provide support to these creatives.
The show that was staged at Mahalapye, Palapye, Selebi-Phikwe, Bobonong, Serowe, Tonota, Masunga, Tutume and other villages was expected to realise and unveil new talent from different regions.
“Performing at such events provide artistes the opportunities to showcase their skills to potential audiences who might then consider hiring them for various events,” Dj Fresh said. Supporting local artistes, he said, was crucial for their growth and success on national and international stages.
Some of the artistes who graced the day to compete and entertained the crowd included Wabuya Morgan, Gaolatlhe Thulaganyo, Moatlhodi Morgan, Aubrey Mmongwa.
An eminent artiste Mmongwa, aka UBBER RAY, said in an interview that the event was worthwhile and well organised as he was able to unleash his potential before the throngs while participating in the competition.
While he commended RB2 and Big Dawg Productions for coming up with this initiative, he also encouraged the up-coming artistes to pull up their socks and their industry to greater heights adding that he was ready to help upcoming artistes enhance their capacities as a form of creating employment for themselves and others. Mmongwa advised fellow artistes to behave well before the public so that the future artistes would emulate their good attitude and behaviour.
Welcoming the gathering, Deputy Chief of Masunga Kgosi Thabo Monaga acknowledged the organisers for bringing the show to his village as local artistes and those from neighbouring villages would be able to showcase their talent to the public.
Kgosi Monaga encouraged artistes to unleash their potential to attract more patrons to their products. Ends
