25 Aug 2026

Absa Bank Botswana has committed P2.5 million towards the Dithubaruba cultural show over the next three years, in a partnership aimed at strengthening cultural heritage and community development.

Speaking at the sponsorship launch in Gaborone recently, Absa head of marketing and corporate affairs, Dennis Mambure said the bank would provide P500 000 annually in direct sponsorship, alongside additional investment in activities and community initiatives.

Mambure said the partnership would use the cultural platform to create opportunities for financial inclusion and economic empowerment, particularly among entrepreneurs and underserved communities.

He highlighted initiatives including the Women in Business workshop series, MobiTap and the SHE Account as avenues through which Absa would support participants with financial tools and business opportunities.

Kgosi Kgari III said Dithubaruba was more than a cultural celebration, describing it as a socio-economic catalyst for the community.

Celebrated under the theme: Unlocking Heritage, Transforming our Integrity, he said the festival supported artisans, created opportunities for young people and stimulated local businesses in hospitality, retail and transport.

He welcomed Absa’s support, saying it would help secure the festival during financial challenges and strengthen its future.

Kgosi Kgari III also announced the Pitso ya Borre Road Safety event, billed for September 4, a day prior to the Dithubaruba festival and organised with the MVA Fund to promote responsible road use, responsibility and leadership among men and boys.

He called for unity, integrity, resilience and collective commitment to preserving Botswana’s heritage and improving community wellbeing.

The partnership is also expected to broaden participation in cultural activities and strengthen community engagement and create sustainable opportunities. ENDS
