BDF embraces Mindset Change

20 Nov 2023

November 17, 2023 will be etched in the memories of Francistowners, courtesy of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) 30th presentation of the BDF Bands in Concert Style.

The concert, which was held at Adansonia Hotel, attracted revellers in their numbers, from within the city and surrounding areas.

Performances correlated with the theme: Mindset Change Towards Gender-Based Violence such that popular songs were twitched to carry the message.

Director of ceremonies, Captain Candy Makabe explained that the BDF Bands in Concert Style started in 1991, with an aim to aid those in need through profit-generated, while at the same time celebrated the force, culture and Botswana.

That came through with performances of various traditional dances as Tsutsube, Seperu, Phatisi, Hosana and Setapa.

Revellers were also treated to a variety of musical instruments that included the xylophone, guitars and marimba.

The cherry on top was of course, a donation of P25 000, which was split among the Botswana Gender Based Violence Prevention and Support Centre of Francistown, which walked away with P15 000 and SOS Francistown, which received P10 000.

BDF Commander, Lieutenant General Placid Segokgo attended the concert. Ends
