MultiChoice launches Bots Top 5

MultiChoice Botswana will on May 24 launch Bots Top 5 music videos on DStv’s Channel O, as part of their continued local content strategy.
A press statement from MultiChoice Botswana states that this is a new music show on Channel O, which will feature homegrown Botswana music videos, running for ten weeks.
The release says the music show produced by a locally operated and owned production company, Hub TV, Bots Top 5 is a concept borne out of MultiChoice Group’s drive for more local content across all its markets.
“We believe that Botswana certainly has the capabilities to produce content that is of world-class standard and I am confident that the rest of Africa will finally get to see what we are capable of,” said Stephanie Pillay, MultiChoice Botswana’s managing director in the release.
Pillay said they hope for more opportunities not only for the artists whose work would be aired on the show, but for the production company and the show’s host.
The show will be hosted by Mduduzi ‘Mdu Tha Party’ Madzwamuse, a radio presenter with RB2 and previously with Yarona FM.
MultiChoice Botswana Corporate Affairs manager Thembile Legwaila noted that with this being a fresh new music video celebrating local Botswana artists and their works, they wanted to ensure that music videos airing on the show were representative of the talent available in Botswana.
The release further quotes Legwaila saying, “We have made the submission process as simple and as transparent as possible with the hope that this will unearth the undiscovered musical gems we have in the country.”
It says as the 10-episode show continues its production, MultiChoice Botswana has also released a call-for-submission of local music videos for an opportunity to be featured on Bots Top 5.
Video submissions are to be made to Channel O by submitting a YouTube link to any local music video to music@multichoice.co.za, using the hashtag #ChOxDStvBots as a reference/subject line.
“The intention behind this call-for-submissions is to not only have this process be as transparent as possible, but to also create an opportunity for undiscovered and unknown artists to have the rest of Botswana and Africa at large experience their talent,” Pillay said in a press statement.
The press release further explains that local artists who submit their videos for Bots Top 5 should expect feedback on the selection of their music video from the Channel O team within two weeks of submission. ends
