Black Motion for GIMC afro tech

15 May 2023

South African electronic duo, Black Motion will headline the Gaborone International Music Concert (GIMC) afro tech fourth edition a day before Ascension Day.

Popular for fusing tribal house beats with live drumming and indigenous languages, Black Motion will officially usher in winter season and Ascension Day at Game City Rooftop alongside Botswana’s finest afro tech DJs Benny T, Teaz, Lexx as well as Tefo Foxx who is based in Pretoria. From South Africa, alongside Black Motion there will be Darque.

The duo, previously comprising of Bongani ‘MurdahBongz’ Mohosana and Thabo ‘Smol’Mabogwane will grace the GIMC stage with a new member Kabelo ‘Problem Child’ Koma who replaced MurdahBongz following the split of the duo last year. The duo is known for their songs such as Ngoma, Imali, Osaze, and Joy Joy among others.

“Afro tech is a popular music genre and a lot of people prefer to entertain at an afro tech house music event, away from the usual amapiano gigs,” said Fish Pabalinga, organiser of GIMC.

Meanwhile, GIMC’s ninth edition will be back this year on August 25 to September 2 where it will feature choral, comedy, fitness and aerobics, poetry, champagne and picnic, theatre, clap and tap, jazz as well as the music festival.

GIMC has been going on since 2014, and claimed the biggest music and culture event status.

“The ninth edition promises to be one of the biggest we have ever hosted as we prepare for the 10th anniversary next year,” Pabalinga said.

He said GIMC patrons should expect nothing but the best of not only international acts but home-grown as well at this year’s ninth edition.

Some of the already released acts to be featured at this year’s GIMC Jazz include Zonke and Vusi Nova from South Africa and Botswana jazz maestro Socca Moruakgomo and Nono Siile.  ENDs
