EIMC to undertake P265m refurbishment of 22 schools

Education Infrastructure and Management Company (EIMC) will undertake the refurbishment of 22 public secondary schools across Botswana, from August 2026 to March 2027 at a total cost of P265 million.
A press release from EIMC says the works represent the initial phase of EIMC’s school refurbishment programme aimed at improving the safety, functionality and overall quality of public education infrastructure.
The 22 schools, as per the release, comprise 11 junior secondary schools and 11 senior secondary schools across the country.
The junior secondary schools are; Donga in Francistown, Gobojango in Gobojango, Madikwe in
Mathubudukwane, Maiteko in Mabutsane, Makalamabedi in Makalamabedi, Maoka in Gaborone, Marakanelo in Ncojane, Mphuthe in Letlhakeng, Patikwane in Mabeleapudi, Rakops in Rakops and Ramokgonami in Ramokgonami.
The senior secondary schools are; Gaborone in Gaborone, Lobatse in Lobatse, Lotsane in Palapye, Matshekge in Bobonong, Maun in Maun, Moeding in Otse, Molefi in Mochudi, Moshupa in Moshupa, Seepapitso in Kanye, Shoshong in Shoshong and Tutume McConnel College in Tutume.
“In line with EIMC’s commitment to collaboration, skills development and inclusive local economic development and participation, the implementation model will include the direct engagement of qualified Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates and artisans,” states the release.
The programme will also engage Ikageng Public Works Programme beneficiaries who will work with the artisans as assistants for skills development and transfer.
In partnership with the Presidential Youth Empowerment Campaign (PYEC), the release says EIMC has also mobilised youth who have qualifications in construction-related programmes to play a role in the undertaking, creating employment for the youth population.
“To promote Local Economic Development, procurement of building materials will be undertaken through vendors and suppliers located within or near the project’s localities,” adds he release.
According to the release, the implementation approach is intended to ensure that investment in school infrastructure also stimulates local economic activity, supports small businesses, creates employment opportunities and enables participants to gain practical workplace experience.ENDS
