Tati Town police are appealing to the community to assist with information that will lead to the arrest of suspects involved in a vehicle theft incident.
In an interview, station commander, Superintendent Boipuso Baatweng said the suspects stole and fled with the vehicle and crashed it during a night of revelry at Marobela on Monday, July 15, around 3am.
Supt. Baatweng said the owner was alleged to have misplaced the car keys, and the suspects took advantage of the situation.
“The victim reported that he saw his vehicle being driven away at high speed by unknown culprits. Despite his attempt to give chase, he was unable to recover his vehicle,” he said.
Supt. Baatweng said hours later, the stolen vehicle was found crashed against an electric pole before it burst into flames while the suspects had already fled the scene.
Meanwhile, police in other stations have reported calm and safe President’s Holidays.
Francistown police station commander, Supt. Mogomotsi Kesupile said the holidays were peaceful except for a few reported incidents of cellphone theft.
In Tonota policing area, long-haul truckers were warned for bad driving.
“We are very much concerned with unsafe driving practices concerning heavy duty trucks along the A1 highway. These vehicles make a long queue and fail to give small vehicles a chance to overtake,” said Assistant Supt. Abel Matlhape of Tonota.
However, he said the holidays were peaceful and the behaviour of motorists on the road was tolerable. Ends
