Botswana has joined the rest of the world in mourning Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdowm, who died on September 8.
A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has declared that the country should observe a period of mourning, which will include flying flags at half-mast.
Flags began flying half-mast from September 9 and will remain so until the funeral.
According to the press release, the Queen’s legacy of selfless dedication to serve over 70 years is second to none.
“Her dedication to not only the United Kingdom but also the Commonwealth shall forever remain etched in our hearts,” reads the release.
It further says Queen Elizabeth II was a treasure of wisdom from which generations living and yet to come, will benefit.
“We are privileged to have lived in her era and witnessed compelling servant leadership qualities which we should strive to emulate for the betterment of humanity. Her consistent calm demeanour even during the most tumultuous times offered the much needed stability that mankind needed,” it says. Ends
