A traditional doctor involved in the gruesome Kopong murder case, Kebaleboge Ntsebe (42) on Thursday astonished the court when instead of motivating for her bail release, faulted fellow accused Leufty Kosie for lying to the court.
Ntsebe is facing a single count of murder along with Oageng Letsholo (46), Kosie (47) and Outlwile Aston (48).
They are accused of murdering a Kopong teacher, Barulaganye Aston on July 14.
Ntsebe told the Broadhurst Magistrate Court that Kosie was not telling the truth that he was in Maun during the gruesome murder of Aston.
She said as a practicing traditional doctor, there was confidentiality between her and her clients, adding that both Kosie and Outlwile Aston were her clients.
Ntsebe was, however, interjected by the defence attorney, Mr Kagisano Tamocha, who asked that the statements be purged off from the court records.
Mr Tamocha reasoned that the statement had no bearing on the accused’s bail application and it infringed on the merits of the matter.
His objection was sustained by Magistrate Jobbie Moilatshimo, who advised the accused to confine herself to bail.
Ntsebe, however, told the court that she was a trustworthy person and she was the one who led the police to the potential state key witness.
Further, she also said she led the police to the place where some of the exhibits were burned, which actions, she said showed her willingness to cooperate with the police.
She said the key witness in the matter would be writing her school examinations in October and she was the one taking care her.
Ntsebe told the court that she had no knowledge of the murder, saying she could only account for what transpired within her home.
“Tota ga ke itse gore molato wame ke eng, ke amega jang ka kgang ya polao,” she asked.
Ntsebe said she was arrested by the police, who questioned her about the lungs of a person she killed using sour milk, which she denied.
However, she said the police started to assault her and she was constantly frequenting the hospital due to poor health caused by such assaults.
She further said she had developed a condition where she took prolonged periods to urinate, adding that she was still awaiting test results from the doctor.
However, state prosecutor, Keletso Ookeditse objected to her bail, saying nothing warranted her to be given bail, adding that their reasons had been filed to the court.
Magistrate Moilatshimo is expected to rule on the matter on September 14, while Aston and Kosie will apply for bail. ENDS
