A 22 year-old man of Kauree cattle post will appear before Maun magistrate for stabbing to death a 42 year-old man of Tsau during the President Holidays.

The suspect was arrested in the early hours on July 18 at Kauree cattle-post after a tip off from the eye witnesses.

Sehithwa Station commander, Superintendent Nshaki Mabophiwa said in an interview that they received a report that the deceased found the suspect together with friends at one of the homesteads in Tsau and a misunderstanding erupted after the deceased jokingly accused the suspect of having many girlfriends.

The suspect, he said allegedly stabbed the deceased with a sharp object on the chest leaving him lying motionless in a pool of blood and escaped the scene.

Superintendent Mabophiwa noted that the onlookers reported the matter to the police who rushed the deceased to Tsau clinic where he was certified dead upon arrival.

He said the police went in a search of the suspect and found him sleeping at his house at Kauree cattle-post a few kilometres from Tsau.

He said the suspect had confessed and showed them the knife he used to kill the deceased.
Still in Sehithwa, Superintendent Mabophiwa said four men were caught in possession of two carcasses suspected to be of stolen cattle.

The police, he said acted on a tip-off that five men were spotted escorting two cattle from Bodibeng heading towards Sehithwa.

He explained that a team of police officers waited for them at Toteng village where they searched the car they were driving and found the carcasses and a gun which they suspected was used to kill the animals.
Upon questioning, he said, the suspects failed to account for the carcasses and were arrested, but the fifth suspect managed to run away.

“We are hopeful that we will arrest him as he is a well-known person,” said Superintendent Mabophiwa.

In a separate stock theft incident, he said they had arrested three men who were found in possession of meat suspected to be of stolen animals over the holidays.

He said the suspects were arrested near Thololamoro settlement after they failed to account for the meat in the car boot.

Meanwhile, he said stock theft remained unacceptably high in his policing area and appealed to members of the community to join forces with the police to curb the problem.

The Station commander also advised farmers to guard their livestock noting that the thieves were coming up with new tactics.

“Stock theft is worrisome in our area and has negative effects especially on small and emerging livestock owners. I urge members of the community to continue reporting suspicious incidents so that we can act on time,” Superintendent Mabophiwa added. ENDS
