Liquid Telecom unveils new brand

Liquid Telecom Botswana has unveiled its new brand identity, Liquid Intelligent Technologies (LIT).
When launching the new brand in Gaborone on Thursday, the managing director of LIT, Mr Odirile Tamajobe said reliable and fast connectivity was vital to growing the country’s economy by opening doors to e-commerce and other global digital opportunities.
Mr Tamajobe noted that Pan-African telecoms group, Liquid Telecom, had re-branded, re-calibrated and repositioned as pan-African technology group LIT, with ambitions of expanding its service offerings across the African continent.
He noted that the re-brand reflects the organisation’s well known business transformation from being a telecommunications and digital service provider to a one-stop-shop technology entity for both governments and the private sector.
The managing director explained that LIT was a pan-African technology group with capabilities across 14 countries, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa, which was established in 2005.
He further clarified that LIT was redefining Network, Cloud and Cyber Security offerings through strategic partnerships with leading global players, innovative business applications, intelligent cloud services and world-class security to the African continent.
Liquid is now a one-stop-shop technology group that provides tailor-made digital solutions to businesses in the public and private sectors across the continent, he said.
He noted that over the past 15 years, LIT had built the most extensive single fibre network on the continent, extending from the south to the north, dubbed Cape to Cairo.
“At Liquid Intelligent Technologies, we have a proven track record of investing in and deploying technology designed to grow, strengthen and build Africa’s digital future.
This expansion into Botswana is yet another proof point that shows our deep commitment to this practice,” said the Managing Director.
Mr Tamajobe also highlighted that the next stage of the group’s journey was to use the combined infrastructure of its network, data centres and relationships with cloud providers such as Microsoft.
The Director of Policy Development in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Mr Cecil Masiga applauded LIT, saying that the transformation marked a great achievement for the country.
He noted that the transformation could not have come at a better time when technology was needed a lot, more especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Technology cannot prevent the onset of pandemics, however, it can help prevent the spread, educate, warn, and empower those on the ground to be aware of the situation, and noticeably lessen the impact, said Mr Masiga.
The Director also emphasised that digital economy would also be reflected as everything would be put in place, adding that it would also enable ‘us to work via a variety of digital channels, creating amazing connectivity between our colleagues and our customers’.
The main goal is to achieve digital economy that will in turn transform the nature of markets and products, dictate how to produce, how to deliver and pay, as well as the scale of capital to operate globally, and human capital requirements, he said. Ends
