MAUN shoprite re-opens
01 Jan 2021
Shoprite Supermarket in Maun has re-opened following temporary closure due to COVID-19 sentinel testing survey and contact tracing.
In an interview, Ngami District Health Management Team acting coordinator, Dr Sandra Maripe, explained that the supermarket was closed following an advice from the Ministry of Health and Wellness after they registered a positive case during the sentinel testing survey, which ended on December 31.
The supermarket, she said, was closed to allow screening, adding that the period also gave them enough time to conclude their investigations as well as to decontaminate the premises. Meanwhile, both Ngami and Okavango DHMTs embarked on a sentinel testing survey from October 12.
The survey was expected to find the intensity and geographic spread of the disease as well as to get prevalence of the pandemic across all the zones.
The survey, which was conducted in Maun, Gumare and Seronga was also expected to assist in quick identification of cases, quick testing as well as immediate isolation to prevent spread. Ends
