09 Aug 2020

A body of a Zimbabwean national suspected to have been murdered by unknown assailants was discovered at her rented house at Lekgwapheng Ward opposite Scottish Livingstone Hospital in Molepolole.

The lifeless body of the 49-year-old woman was reportedly discovered by the deceased’s colleague, who was sent to check on her by the deceased’s daughter after she failed to contact her on her mobile phone on Thursday evening.

Ms Kudzanayi Muvakure, a teacher at Shepherd English Medium Primary school in Molepolole told BOPA in an interview that she was shocked to discover her colleague’s body lying in her leaving room and there was blood all over the place.

Ms Muvakure further highlighted that she immediately called the school managing director, Ms Ellah Merriweather to the scene before they could call the police.

Ms Petina Dingambira, also the deceased’ colleague, confirmed to have last seen the deceased on the evening of Wednesday after they had arranged to meet the following day.

She said the incident left her terrified but prayed that the wrong doers to be brought to book.

On the other hand, Ms Merriweather said they were devastated by the death of her employee in the same institution for the past 12 years.

“The incident truly left us with trauma as my relationship with the deceased was not that of employer and employee but that of sisters,” related Ms Merriweather.

Meanwhile, the neighbour, Ms Sauda Hawa stated that they did not hear any suspicious noise to assume the deceased was in any form of danger.

She however expressed shock over their neighbour’s demise whom she described as a jolly person.

Molepolole station commander Superintendent Motlhaba Ramaabywa confirmed the incident saying they suspected the murder might have happened on August 5.

Suspects allegedly stole the deceased’s two mobile phones.

“We have not yet been able to make a breakthrough as investigations are at an infant stage but we are calling for individuals with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to come forward,” Supt. Ramaabywa said. ENDS
