Zimbabwean Man in custody on four charges

A Zimbabwean national, Solomon Jaka, 26, who resides at Boseja ward in Maun, has pleaded not guilty to three of the four charges he is facing before the Maun Magistrate Court on Jine 22.

Jaka pleaded not guilty to the first charge of shop breaking and theft that occurred at Thito ward in Maun.

He is alleged to have broken into a butchery and stole goods worth P32 571.

He also pleaded not guilty to burglary and theft.

He is alleged to have broken into a dwelling place of one Lebang Tembwe and stole goods worth P2 229.

Jaka however pleaded guilty to the fourth charge of entering Botswana through an ungazetted point on a date not known to the prosecution.

The prosecutor Paul Basupi of Botswana Police Service requested court to remand Jaka in custody until police investigations had been completed.

Maun Magistrate, Ms Keneilwe Kgwadi remanded Jaka in custody until July 6.

Another accused, 31-year-old Talent Bafana of Motopi has pleaded guilty to two counts of storeroom break-in and theft and entering Botswana through an ungazetted point.

Bafana is alleged to have broken into a storeroom of Leopard Plains campsite and stolen goods worth P10 850.

Bafana told court that he stole the goods because the company owed him and that he was hungry. ENDS
