Ghanzi police record break inns

Officer Commanding No 6 District, Senior Supt Cyprian Magalela, says Ghanzi District has recorded five cases of break inns since easing of movement restrictions.
In an interview today, Senior Supt Magalela stated that the break inns involved three houses and Dutch reformed church in Ghanzi as well as a security company office in Charleshill. He said total estimated cost of stolen goods from all the premises was over P100 000.
He explained that music instruments, worth P72 000 were stolen from Dutch Reformed Church and it was reported that a printer and four chairs were stolen from Bliar security office and clothes were stolen from the three houses.
He said the incidents could have occurred during the lockdown period but only to be discovered after easing of movement restrictions.
“Home owners discovered the break inns when they arrived from other areas such as the cattle posts,” he explained.
Senior Supt Magalela cautioned that despite the easing of movement restrictions, the public should continue observing COVID-19 protocols and regulations, such as social distancing and wearing of face masks.
Also, he reminded the public that that inter zonal travelling required the use of permits. Ends
