Police in Kasane have applauded residents and liquor traders for adhering to precautionary measures to curb coronavirus spread.
Station Commander, Superintendent James Maabong, said in an interview that all establishments that were authorized to sell liquor had been working harmoniously with the police since March 28.
However, Superintendent Maabong said in one incident, occurred ia 63-year-old woman of Kgapamadi ward in Kasane was found selling an assortment of beverages including traditional brew without a license.
The woman was charged P1 000. The police confiscated all the beverages and would now seek a court order to dispose them.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Maabong talked about a group of thugs that was terrorising residents at night. The police, he said, were still investigating to establish whether the ill-behaved group originated from Kasane or Namibia.
“We tracked their footprints and the footprints ended at the banks of the Chobe River near Sedudu where there were some canoes packed there,” he added.
Superintendent Maabong said the police were able to foil attempts by the group to break into businesses and people’s houses during the night.
He accordingly appealed to residents of Kasane to be on the look-out and report any suspicious person to the police adding that the police will on their side intensify their patrols.ends
