G4 company promotes competitiveness excellence

G4 Consulting Engineering Company has donated over P15 000 to Tshwaragano Junior Secondary School in Maun.

This was an effort to promote the spirit of competitiveness and excellence, amongst learners.

The company has been supporting the school since 2015 by sponsoring Science and Mathematics subjects to the tune of P15 000 every year.

The school was also enjoying support from other companies such as Desert & Delta Safaris and SKL group.

Speaking during the school’s awards ceremony recently the deputy school head, Mr Moses Josiah, hailed private companies for playing a key role in enhancing the education system.

He said their support would make a huge difference in the school’s performance rate.

He noted that in 2017, the pass rate was 18.9 per cent, while in 2018, it improved to 25.9 per cent, saying he believed that this year, they would do better despite the challenges.

During the ceremony, Desert & Delta Safaris awarded a two-night stay at Leroo La Tau campsite in the Okavango Delta, to the overall best pupil in Social Studies, while SKL group rewarded the overall best performer with a dinner voucher at Tandurai restaurant. The pupils would be accompanied by their parents.

G4 Consulting Engineering rewarded overall best pupils in Mathematics and Science.

In Form 3, the best pupil was given P3 000, Form 2 received P2500 while Form 1 student went away with P2 000.

The director of G4 Consulting Engineering, Mr Botsile Gubango said education was key to a better life, hence the need to support it. He urged the pupils to work hard and excel in their studies.

He called upon the learners to have role models to motivate them to shape their future and help them understand the importance of education.

Mr Gubango said his company focused more on Mathematics and Science subjects to stimulate learners to go an extra mile in their academics.

“I believe that the monetary prizes will instill the spirit of competitiveness and also help stimulate learners so that they develop an interest in Mathematics and Science subjects. We have noticed that the Junior Certificate results were not satisfactory and I urge you to pull up your socks this year,” he urged pupils.

He said his company also supported Maitlamo Junior Secondary School in Maun, Ithuteng Primary School in Gaborone and Ramotswa School for the Deaf.

The chairperson of Parents and Teachers Association, Ms Kereteletswe Tshupo thanked the sponsors for their contribution towards the success of the event. She also appreciated the good working relationship between teachers and parents and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

Ms Tshupo urged parents to fully support and commit to their children’s education and ensure they do their homework, without fail. ENDS
