22 Sep 2019

Conspiracy to robbery third accused, Kefilwe Ramoitoi’s Attorney Nkepe Mabudu on September 19 told Broadhurst Magistrate Court that his client had not yet been served with all the necessary documents and that the case could not continue until that is done.

He said although the charge sheet had been amended several times, the prosecution had not given him and his client the amended version.

Mogoditshane Police Station prosecutor Sub-Inspector Keaipela Seekolo guaranteed that the accused persons would be served accordingly.

Sub-Inspector Seekolo however said investigations were continuing and reminded the court that the accused persons had not answered for the offences they are charged with.

She said at this stage, they were supposed to know whether the accused persons understood the charges or not.

Broadhurst Magistrate Court’s Atanang Baleseng said the charge sheet would be read during the next mention and the accused persons would answer for the offences.

He also encouraged the first and second accused persons: Lebogang Mhotsha and Poloko Seduke to have found representatives by the next mention, saying if they do not bring their attorneys, the state would be more than willing to provide such.

Lebogang Mhotsha, Poloko Seduke and Kefilwe Ramoitoi are alleged to have acted together in concert, conspiring to rob Naledi Leburu, Albert Basinyi, Orapeleng Phetso and Kgaditswe of money and a cellphone through the aid of six South African men, whose identities are still unknown.

The alleged robbery, which took place on August the 26, led to the death of two Batswana men, who were on their way to Durban, South Africa, to purchase motor vehicles.

According to the particulars of the offence, the victims had with them money in three currencies; ZAR350 900, US$10 500 and BWP500 as well as a J6 Plus Samsung cellphone valued at P3 000.

The next mention has been set for November 5. Ends
