Skull under forensic investigation - police
29 Jul 2019
Botswana Police say they cannot deny or confirm that the skull discovered by Ipelegeng workers in the bush between Block 7 and Block 8 on July 26 belongs to Elizabeth Kerekeng.
Deputy public relations officer of Botswana Police Services, Senior Superintendent Near Bagali, told BOPA in an interview that the skull had been taken to the laboratories for forensic analysis.
He however confirmed that the skull was found by manual workers while litter picking and clearing bushes and reported the matter which was attended to by Sir Seretse Khama police officers.
"As of now there is no report as to whom the skull belongs to and whether the skull is of a human being or not. DNA results take time, the results of a skull that was discovered on July 26 cannot be out on the same day,” Senior Supt Bagali added.
He reiterated that forensic analysis was underway and that they would issue a media statement as soon as the results were ready.
“We do not work on speculations and people should know that it is wrong to release unfounded information which will leave others shaken needlessly,” he said. Ends
