The family of the 33-year-old woman of Molepolole who was murdered last week is still in shock and live in fear that the accused will be granted bail.
The family is still struggling to get to terms with the loss of their daughter following her murder in full glare of colleagues shortly after she reported for work at Ipelegeng.
The accused, 35-year-old Kabo Motlhabane will appear for mention at Molepolole Magistrate Court on March 11.
However, the family has stated that they did not have confidence in the justice system since criminals were allowed to walk free in society.
The family said the accused was a dangerous man who had threatened to kill a couple of people before he was arrested.
The deceased’s aunt, Ms Basadi Lekhwesa said in an interview that the incident broke her heart.
She said the deceased lived in fear and knew that the accused was after her because they broke up a few weeks ago at the customary court where efforts to reconcile them failed.
The deceased’s sister, Ms Mmoni Senne said if she had her way, the accused would not be granted bail because their family was not safe.
She also stated that before the accused was arrested, he was vying for the blood of the deceased’s daughter.
Ms Senne further stated that the two had constant fights and that the deceased would end up assaulted.
She said because the accused was forceful, the deceased would end up withdrawing the case.
She stressed that the deceased was trapped in an abusive relationship that they failed to rescue her from because the accused was a dangerous man.
Meanwhile, Ms Senne said the deceased was a bread winner in a family of four.
“She provided for her family by selling fresh chips at a local bar,” she said.
The deceased has lost both of her parents and is survived by a daughter, a sister and two brothers.
Motlhabane is alleged to have murdered Boipelo Mpolokang on February 22 with a sharp object suspected to be a knife.
The accused was previously convicted of two murder charges, and has served 17 years in prison for both charges. ENDS
