28 Jan 2019
Stakeholder participation is said to be crucial in education.
Former Botswana Defence Force warrant officer, Mr Moffat Mabuto, said this when handing over a 4-in-1 printer to Bakgatle Junior Secondary School in Rasesa recently.
He said he hoped the machine would go a long way in helping the school.
Mr Mabuto said he took it upon himself to participate in the adopt a school initiative, revealing that Bakgatle was the fourth school he donated to.
He urged parents to be involved in their children’s education.
He said stakeholder participation did not only involve money or materials, but safety or study groups that could motivate pupils.
Mr Mabuto said all should take part in the school’s activities.
Bakgatle school head, Ms Julia Kgomotso, thanked Mr Mabuto for the donation, saying it came at the right time.
She said the machine would be helpful since they had been struggling with scanning documents.
Ms Kgomotso appreciated the efforts of the Parent and Teachers Association, adding however, that they could not manage alone.
She encouraged other parents to partake in the school’s programmes to help their children and the school at large.
Councillor for Rasesa, Mr Daniel Molokwe, thanked the school leaders for allowing and supporting people who wanted to donate to the school.
Mr Molokwe said the council was still struggling with the maintenance of schools and was hopeful that private stakeholders would come forth to help. ENDs
