Motswakhumo twin brothers in custody
18 Apr 2018
Two Motswakhumo brothers, Jalo and Gontse were on April 16 arraigned for the alleged murder of Thabo Keeletsang of Lekwapheng ward in Molepolole.
The two aged 28, are alleged to have murdered Keeletsang, whose lifeless body was found abandoned at a Quarry near Molepolole Prison on April 8.
They were further remanded in custody by Molepolole Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe -Oahile.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent Uyapo Koketso pleaded for the court to remand the two brothers, arguing that investigations on the matter were at an infancy stage and some of the prosecution witnesses to be contacted were the accused’s associates.
Last week a plea was made by Molepolole Police Station commander, Superintendent Charles Mbengwa for the public to help with information that could lead to the arrest of suspected assailants of Keeletsang after his body was spotted by passersby abandoned at the quarry.
The plea led to the arrest of the Motswakhumo twins last Friday, who are currently helping police in their investigations.
They are to appear again for mention on April 30.
Jalo complained of his arrest, arguing that he did not have any idea why he was linked to the death of Keeletsang.
“It is true that we went out looking for the suspect, who allegedly broke into our house stealing our belongings, but we do not know anything about the cause of his death,” he said.
Gontse, like his co-accused pleaded for their freedom as their arrest was ‘a deliberate move to frustrate them, saying they did not know anything about the alleged killing of the deceased. ENDS
