22 Jun 2017
Two women and men facing two counts of house breaking and stealing from a house belonging to a Chinese citizen will appear again for mention before Molepolole magistrate, Ms Lindiwe Makgoro.
The quartet, Cindrella Malabola, Silvia Papa females aged 35 and 32 of Mmopane respectively and Molefe Mogatusi and Phemelo Mogapi aged 34 and 43 both of Oodi are alleged to have stolen items valued over P37 000.
They allegedly entered a dwelling house of Mr Yu De with intent to steal and got away with assorted cellphones, wedding rings, a necklace, US, Chinese and South African currency totaling P37 950 00 on the night of June 13 at Letlhakeng.
Mogatusi is also a suspect in a joint robbery case with Jeffrey Molefe, Sihlule Mazilawa and Gorge Arabang, where they allegedly attacked and robbed Township Rollers’ treasurer, Minkie Molatlhegi over P200 000 of the gate takings and match tickets for a premier league game between Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs for the previous day collections.
Meanwhile, a Mahalapye man of Xhosa ward initially claiming to be a member of the Botswana Defence Force Phenyo Moabi was denied bail by Molepolole magistrate, Mr Michael Itumeleng to allow the police to ascertain his identity.
The 39-year-old Moabi, is jointly charged with Keabetswe Legoreng and Entsho Keesele of Ntloolengwae and Magokotswane wards in Molepolole. The are facing 17 counts of stealing goats belonging to Lesego Motsamai on June 11 at Lentsweletau.
Legoreng and Keesele were granted bail on condition that that they reported once in two weeks to the Molepolole police.
Meanwhile, an attempt by Moabi to request the court to free his companion Keesele and Legoreng alleging they did not play any role in the committal of the offence, failed as magistrate Itumeleng dismissed the accused request saying it was not his duty to guide the court on what decision to take about individuals accused or implicated in a case.
The prosecutor, Inspector Motshwari Mokamogo had pleaded for Moabi’s further detention to allow prosecution to establish Moabi’s identity.
The prosecution, however, did not oppose Keesele and Legoreng’s bail application.
The four accused persons in the two cases are scheduled to appear again for mention on July 4. BOPA
