Burglars make way with goods worth over P37 000

Police in Letlhakeng are investigating a case in which a house belonging to a businessman of Chinese origin was broken into by four burglars, making way with goods worth P37 900.
In an interview, Letlhakeng Police Station Commander, Superintendent Daniel Katse said the incident happened last week Tuesday in broad daylight in Letlhakeng while the businessman was away at work.
He said the timing of the burglary indicated that the perpetrators had been monitoring the businessman all along and knew his daily routine and planned the break-in well.
“The perpetrators came all the way from Gaborone and used hired vehicles from one of the car rentals.
After the incident they headed back to Gaborone where we arrested them only to discover they had already divided the loot amongst themselves,” he said.
Supt. Katse said the four were two women and two men and all locals, ranging between 32-43 years of age.
Supt. Katse said they had already recovered goods worth P7 700 among them an assortment of cellphones, wedding rings and chains as well as different currencies including US$900, R2 300 and 4 000 Chinese currency.
Supt. Katse also indicated that two of the suspects were on bail for different crimes, with one a suspect in one of the cases that have been making national headlines in the past few months.
He said all the four were expected to appear for mention on June 20 at Molepolole Magistrates court.
In another case, Supt. Katse said they investigated a case in which a Toyota double cab vehicle overturned along Ditshegwane-Kgare road over the weekend with 19 occupants.
Supt. Katse said however, that there were no fatalities and that all the occupants, most of whom were children who had hitched a ride to lands along the route, were all treated and discarded the same day.
He said the driver, who did not have a drivers licence was charged with careless driving, overloading and driving without a licence.
He said the 39-year -old driver lost control of the vehicle because of the overload and lack of driving experience. BOPA
