Mokokong urges students to aim high

10 Oct 2016

The guest speaker at Ngwaketse Junior Secondary School prize giving ceremony on Friday (October 7), has advised learners who would be sitting for their final examinations this year to aim high.

Mr Adolphus Mokokong, also sales manager for the Kgalagadi Breweries, told learners that they each had potential to become the best they could be in life if they worked hard.

Mr Mokokong advised learners to work like slaves at their studies now and subsequently live a comfortable life for the rest of their lives after completing their education. “Work hard now and rest later to enjoy the fruits of what you sow,”he said.

He dissuaded the Ngwaketse class of 2016 to steer clear of drug and alcohol abuse and focus on their studies while they still could to avoid regrets later down the road. Mr Mokokong argued that success in life forced everyone to follow some principles, have goals and work diligently.

Although the academic performance of the school which was built through the spirit of self-help has been declining since 2011, he said it was still not late for the students to turn it around.”Make the best of your potential before it is late,”he said.

Mr Mokokong also encouraged school stakeholders like parents and the community at large to maximise their potential in supporting the institution in its endeavors to produce good results and globally competitive products.

He said results emanate from good relations with stakeholders.

Meanwhile Dr Lemogang Kwape who sponsors the annual Mathematics and Science Quiz at the school, has advised learners to cultivate interest in the subjects.

Dr Kwape explained that opportunities were still abound in the Science related fields at a national level.

Dr Kwape who also sponsors the annual Seepapitso Senior School Chemistry award, further explained that the two initiatives were intended to foster learners’ interest to pursue Science related fields of study.

Kgatlhego Monnaatlala emerged tops and walked away with P500 while second and third positions got P300 and P200 respectively.

Mr Lucas Braden who also sponsored the floating outstanding performer award said the idea was to demonstrate that hard work pays.

He said tangible rewards for hard work like trophies usually propelled young learners to work even harder hoping for more.

Mr Braden also promised to construct a roll of honour board for the school where the names of the best past students would be perched in an attempt to encourage those who would follow to also wish to have their own engraved.

Joseph Tinkane snatched the best performer award for the Form one category and Dintle Modise for the Form two category while Kgatlhego Monnaatlala further raked the best Form three and outstanding student trophy.

Thato Komanyane walked away with the most improved student award. ENDS
