05 Oct 2016
Mr Thatayaone Bok is amongst a few enterprising young people who have taken advantage of government programmes to fight unemployment.
The 29-year-old managing director of Ikageng Brick Moulding was in 2012 funded through Youth Development Fundto the tune of P50 000 which he says has changed his life and those of his employees.
He attributed the success to Hukuntsi Sub -district council which has awarded him a tender to mould bricks for Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) scheme; something he strongly believes has helped him grow and given stability to his business.
Mr Bok has used part of the proceeds from his business to take his siblings to school and open up a catering services company that goes by the name Dothan holdings which is also performing well.
He said in an interview that besides turning the lives of his four employees around, the project has come in handy to the people of Hukuntsi and surrounding as they do not have to travel long distances to buy readily available bricks anymore.
However, the enterprising 29 year-old, mentioned shortage of water as one of the primary challenges that has dealt a blow to production.
“We are on the verge of procuring tanks to help remedy the situation,” he said
One of his employees, Mr Kure Kgomo, revealed that the project has been rewarding to the extent that he has bought himself small stock. ENDS
