Police find pieces of govt trophy in bush

Shakawe police have found pieces of elephant tusks, which were hidden in the bush at Sekondeka cattle post few kilometres from Shakawe in the Okavango Sub-district.
According to deputy officer commanding, Superintendent John Kelebeng, they received a report from a 50-year-old man who was looking for his cattle in the bush.
No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
Still in Okavango, a 19-year-old student of Shakawe Senior Secondary school was found in possession of five grams of dagga.
The suspect, who is a form five student, was arrested in a nearby bush after a tip off.
The police chief also reported that three houses burnt to ashes at Samochima 10 kilometres from Shakawe.
He said the incident took place after the fire was blown by the wind towards one of the traditional huts.
He said property worth P23 000 was burnt to ashes adding that there were no fatalities.
In Maun, police are investigating an incident in which a 35-year-old man of Moeti ward committed suicide on Monday.
Superintendent Kelebeng said a neighbour reported the matter to the police when he saw the deceased through the window hanging from the rafters of the house.
He said a message which read “I am tired of being alone” was found on the deceased.
On another issues, goods valued P21 000 were stolen at one of the warehouses at Boseja ward over the weekend.
Superintendent Kelebeng said the incident was reported by the employees when they reported for duty on Monday.
He said the thieves broke in and went away with the goods and no one had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Superintendent Kelebeng appealed to the public to assist the police with information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits. ENDS
