Court further remands Block 3 arson murder accused

15 Feb 2016

A second accused person in the murder of Thamaga two sisters, Bakang Godisang was on Monday further remanded at the request of the prosecution shortly after making a brief appearance before Broadhurst principal magistrate, Mr Monashe Ndlovu.

Like in her previous appearance, Godisang had nothing to tell the court when she was asked whether she has anything to say. Wearing a red dress and flat leisure shoes, the more relaxed Bakang this time around was able to flash a smile when she answered back to the court.

In all respect, the accused this time around majestically moved with somewhat lively pace when she first alighted from the prison’s vehicle and when she boarded, catching those present by surprise, unlike in her previous mention, where there were also many people who wanted to get glimpse of her and had to zigzag her way to the courtroom.

However, the prosecutor inspector Onkemetse Gaboutlwelwe of Broadhurst Police Station told the court that she was optimistic that the first accused, Caroline Gwamolumba, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment in a South African hospital will be present in the next court mention.

Gwamolumba was scheduled to undergo her last arranged chemotherapy circle on February 16, 2016 and she is expected back home any time soon, but her remand warrant is still in force as she will be taken straight to prison upon her arrival.

Gwamolumba and Godisang are accused of setting Tuelo Mokgalo and Kgalalelo Mokgalo’s rented house in Block 3 location in Gaborone on fire on December 23, 2015. It is reported that the senior sister, Tuelo, who was heavily pregnant by then, was a love rival to Gwamolumba, and she ultimately gave birth under severe injuries.

She later died on December 31, 2015 while her sister, Kgalalelo died the following day on January 01, 2016. In the meantime, the next court mention has been scheduled for February 29, 2016, while police investigations continue.

In a different matter, the Gaborone Village Magistrate Court confirmed trial dates for a case in which four people are charged for the offence of theft of motor vehicle. The trial will run from March 7 to 18, 2016. The accused in the matter are Oteng Helman Pule, Modisaotsile Rentse, Thabo Seswai and Nadeem Khan.

The quartet is accused of stealing two new vehicles belonging to the police at BDF Glen Valley Camp on July 30, 2014.

The vehicles in question are a white Ford Ranger valued at P243 635.84 and a white Toyota Land Cruiser valued at P 357 403. Meanwhile Bibi Fatima Rasul and Sayed Zameel Rasul will be used as accomplice witnesses. Ends
