02 Feb 2016

The Broadhurst Magistrate Court has extended the remand warrant for one of the accused persons charged for the murder of two Thamaga sisters. The sisters died after the house they were sleeping in was razed to the ground.

Briefing the court before setting new dates of mention on Monday during Bakang Godisang’s brief appearance, Inspector Onkemetse Gaboutlwelwe of Broadhurst Police Station said the first accused, Caroline Gwamolumba was still in South Africa where she was undergoing cancer treatment.

Inspector Gaboutlwelwe, however, told the court that Gwamolumba would undergo her last chemotherapy treatment on February 16 and return home. She asked for an extension of her remand in absensia.

Godisang and Gwamolumba are facing two counts of murder and arson. It is alleged that on December 23, last year the two took a trip to Block 3 location in Gaborone where they torched Gwamolumba’s love rival’s house, as she was sleeping in the house with her younger sister.

Tuelo Mokgalo and her younger sister, Kgalalelo Mokgalo sustained injuries and later died on December 31 and January 1, 2016 respectively.

Tuelo was pregnant at the time of the attack and gave birth while on injuries. The next mention will be on February 15.

On a different matter, the owner and publisher of Paparazzi newspaper, Daniel Kenosi will appear for another mention to set dates of the Case Management Conference (CMC), in a case in which he is charged for cybercrime related offences.

He allegedly distributed pornographic material sometimes last year.

Kenosi is on bail and is represented by attorney, Mr Lore Morapedi of Lore Morapedi Attorneys and he will appear on February 24.
