27 Jan 2016
Two accused people who are implicated in the murder of former Fairgrounds Holding chief executive officer, Mr Michael Montshiwa were on Tuesday granted conditional bail by Gaborone Village senior magistrate, Mr Ike Raphael.
The duo, Bampoloki Seeiso and Tumelo Tshukudu, have been in custody ever since they appeared before the court for the first time on 19 December 2015.
They are charged alongside one Gaborone based lawyer, Modise David for the murder of Montshiwa at his Gaborone residence on 18 October 2015.
Before granting the accused bail, the state prosecutor from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr Ernest Mosate told the court that the DPP director had finally acceded to granting the accused bail with conditions attached. Nevertheless, he stated that police investigation into the matter were ongoing.
Magistrate Raphael ordered them to bind themselves with a non-cash bail of P10 000 each and provide one surety each of the same amounts. They are also to report every Friday at Broadhurst Police Station and will further surrender their travelling documents to Broadhurst Police station commander.
They are further not to communicate with David or any other possible state witnesses, and not to commit any other criminal offence while on bail. In addition the two, who are represented by attorney Mr Enock Mazonde, should not interfere with police investigations and should attend all court mentions. They will appear again for mention on March 17. Ends
