Traffic offences worry police
01 Nov 2015
Botswana Police Service's Senior Superintendent Chabaesele Kesupetswe says traffic offences are still rife in his area of jurisdiction despite efforts to curb them.
Speaking in an interview , Snr Supt Kesupetswe cited drunken driving, failing to wear a seat belt and driving without a license as the most notable. He said three people lost their lives in the past three months due to such traffic offences and that the deceased were returning from nightclubs.
He lamented that in most cases, traffic offences occurred early in the morning when people will be coming from entertainment spots.
Meanwhile, Snr Supt Kesupetswe said they regularly conducted road side talks, visiting government offices and private companies preaching about the importance of road regulations and safety.
He said their public education was welcomed by many, adding that however, they could not change people’s behavior. Ends
