BURS helps customers meet returns deadline

Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) has introduced additional service points across the country to assist customers to file their tax returns before the October 31 deadline.  

A news release from BURS states that to achieve this, its daily service points are running until October 30 from 0830-1630 hours in malls and council offices across the country.  

“We remain committed to providing our customers with all the support necessary to file their tax returns on time. Knowing the significance of educating our customers we have run dedicated media campaigns through local media houses and on our Facebook and Twitter social media platforms, doing everything we can to reach our customers. 

We also held tax return workshops nationwide between September and October, to train customers about tax returns in order to make the process easier and more accessible,” the release says. 

Customers are being encouraged to take advantage of the additional service points available in order to file their tax returns on time. 

Blank returns are available at all service points. 

For assistance and information on filing processes, BURS officers are on site. Additional service points for tax filing in the Gaborone region are at Boipuso Hall, Airport Junction, River Walk Mall and in Molepolole at Mafenyatlala Mall.

In the North region service points are at Francistown Galo Mall, Tutume, Masunga, Letlhakane, Sua Pan, RACs, Nata Kgotla, Francistown Loja Mall, Nswazwi Mall and Nzano Mall. 

Other service points are at Palapye Junction, Serowe Main Mall, Selebi-Phikwe Mall, Bobonong RAC and Mahalapye Customs as well as Maun Airport for the North West region and in the South region at Kanye, Hukuntsi and Tsabong. 

The release further states that BURS services to be provided at additional service points outside its offices will be receiving of individual returns only.  

BURS in land offices countrywide in Gaborone Head office, Maun, Francistown, Letlhakane, Lobatse, Jwaneng, Palapye, Selebi-Phikwe, Kasane and Ghanzi Office will receive returns during normal working hours from 0730-1630 hours.   

During weekends (Saturday only), the operating time for BURS land offices will be from 0800-1300 hours respectively including October 31.  

BURS encourages customers to file their tax returns before the deadline elapses in order for them to save time and money. ENDS
