Morupisi hands over houses to families
07 Jul 2015
Two Palapye residents have become happy families after a committee comprising of permanent secretaries handed each one of them a house.
Before he was given a house, Mr Meleko Ntatelang, one of the beneficiaries, lived in an un-plastered one room house, which he shared with his daughter.
The permanent secretaries through their initiatives raised more than P10 000, which was entrusted to the council to help kick-start the project.
Initially it was to be a small project, ablution facility for the family, but after seeing the need, the house was extended and it included a shower and a toilet through the assistance of various stakeholders such as Palapye Administrative Authority, Serorome Village Development Committee and dikgosi.
The Permanent Secretary to the President, Mr Carter Morupisi, who chairs the committee, handed over the houses on Saturday (July 4). Palapye Administration Authority provided labour, technical supervision and monitoring of the project to ensure completion.
Mr Morupisi noted that besides enhancing the well-being and dignity of the beneficiaries, such proactive outpouring of generous support serves to enhance the manual skills such as painting and concrete mixing, along with team spirit of the employees who worked on site.
He also recognised the input of Kgosi Samuel Maforaga and his VDC for their substantive contributions during construction of Mr Ntateleng’s house.
The PSP also thanked Serorome Village Development Committee for construction of Mmakgaswe Mokopi and family’s house.
Mr Morupisi also acknowledged and commended the local business community who contributed building materials and other resources. Ends
