High Court, Justice Michael Mothobi says education is the greatest legacy that the young generation can inherit. Justice Mothobi said this when addressing Ramotswa Secondary School students on Saturday (July 4) following a sponsored walk where he was the chief walker.
The school’s Student Representative Council had organised the sponsored walk to raise money for their tutorial lessons and Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) Foundation donated a cheque of P10 000.
Justice Mothobi who is the board chairperson of BTCL said the greatest inheritance available for the young people is based on their commitment towards their education. Therefore, he encouraged the students to be committed to their education in order to secure a brighter future. He said with good grades, students can pursue any career of their choice.
Further, Justice Mothobi encouraged the students to respect and learn from their parents who managed to drive this country to the current status. Another speaker, Sensei Thuto Thuto who is a Life coach said students should to focus on their studies to achieve their fate.
He encouraged students to strive to have knowledge adding that people perish because they lack knowledge. Sensei Thuto pointed out that a person who does not have knowledge cannot live a meaningful life.
Therefore, he encouraged the students to read daily adding that life is not about tomorrow but about today, hence reading gives wisdom and knowledge.
“We are losing people because they fail to take care of themselves,” said Sensei Thuto. For her part, School Head of Ramotswa Secondary School, Ms Thusoetsile Moses said the school is aiming to increase its quality pass rate. She said over the years, their performance has been fluctuating and added that they cannot afford to have their performance dropping.
“We are worried because we cannot be going up and down,” said Ms Moses in an interview. She said their intention is to have a pass rate of 50 per cent of quality pass rate by the end of the year. Nonetheless, she noted that their school is faced with students absconding as well as challenges that come with admitting students with hearing impairment. Ends
