Minopex Botswana company, which operates under Karowe Diamond Mine, has donated school uniforms, food hampers and toiletries to three students of Supang Primary School in Letlhakane.
Speaking during the handing over of the donation, Minopex safety and system superintendent, Mr Joseph Thokweng said they spent P3 500 for the purchasing of food and uniforms.
Foreman for shift A employees of Minopex, Mr Christopher Gilbert said since they operate from Boteti they saw the need for extending a helping hand to the less privileged members of society.
He said they are not only in Boteti for mining but to also show love, care and compassion to the community they are operating under, adding that they donated to the same students last year.
A teacher at Supang primary school, Mr Stanley Ketlhaotswe appealed to individuals, private companies and organisations to open a window of hope and generosity in their communities to ensure the realisation of Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.
He also encouraged students to take their education seriously to change their lives and that of their parents for the better. Mr Ketlhaotswe also acknowledged Minopex for their generosity towards their students, adding that the donation would make a difference and urged other companies to emulate Minopex.
For his part, Mr Twoman Gakerobale, a parent to the students, showed gratitude to Minopex for their donation to his children, saying it would encourage the students to do well at school. ENDS
