In mourning the fallen third president of Botswana, BOPA took to the streets to hear how Batswana remember Rre Mogae. This what they said: President Festus Mogae was best known for leading Botswana’s fight against HIV/AIDS, keeping the economy strong and corruption low, and being a calm, honest leader who stepped down peacefully after 10 years. He started Africa’s first free HIV medicine program in 2002 and won a big award in 2008 for good leadership.
