In mourning the fallen third president of Botswana, BOPA took to the streets to hear how Batswana remember Rre Mogae. This what they said: President Festus Mogae was best known for leading Botswana’s fight against HIV/AIDS, keeping the economy strong and corruption low, and being a calm, honest leader who stepped down peacefully after 10 years. He started Africa’s first free HIV medicine program in 2002 and won a big award in 2008 for good leadership. May his soul rest in eternal Peace!…Pontsho Komoki He led this country in peace and fought the pandemic(HIV/AIDS) that had hit our country loosing our loved ones by introducing programs to suppress. He emphasized good governance for stability and development. They called him incorruptible leader. His love for this country was genuine...Magdeline Phikane He is the first president to face HIV/AIDS pandemic. He was also known for Maintaining economy through diamond/ natural resources and Promoting education and woman empowerment....Goitseone Kgangyame He was a leader who has Batswana at his heart. It was a very controversial move but he bravely made it…One scotch In 2002, under his direction, Botswana became the first African country to provide free Anti-Retroviral (ARV) therapy to all citizens…Kefilwe Gaanagagabo He led this country with dignity and truly loved Batswana, always putting the needs of the people first to ensure every citizen felt valued. A true hero, he pioneered the 'test and treat' approach and spoke openly and bluntly about the crisis to break the silence and shame surrounding the virus.
