CHURCH AND VILLAGE LEADERSHIP PRAY FOR UNEXPLAINED ILLNESS

15 May 2026

Leaders from the North West district, the Ministers’ Fraternal Committee, and  churches gathered at Boseja Primary School today for a mass prayer session aimed at addressing a mysterious illness that has affected 15 pupils and disrupted learning at the school. ‎ ‎The school was temporarily closed by the government after 14 girls and one boy experienced unexplained collapses, despite medical examinations finding no physical cause for the symptoms. ‎ ‎Senior guidance and counseling teacher Ms Tswelelo Letsamao told the gathering that the illness first appeared in February when a Standard 4 pupil collapsed, followed by three others. ‎ ‎“We alerted their parents and engaged health officials who conducted all the tests but nothing was diagnosed,” she said. ‎ ‎When schools reopened, the situation worsened, with more learners collapsing. School management then consulted the Parents and Teachers’ Association, which proposed a mass church prayer. ‎ ‎Reverend Dr Kinolo Makhokhoba, chairperson of the Maun Ministers’ Fraternal Committee, said church leaders responded to the call in hopes of bringing relief. ‎ ‎“This situation requires divine intervention to break its power. We believe that prayers are key to breaking the hold of such sicknesses," he said. ‎ ‎He added that the prayers are also intended to provide spiritual support and counseling to learners, staff and parents affected by the ongoing uncertainty.
