Peace prevails in polling stations
24 Oct 2014
Returning Officers in all various Mogoditshane polling stations expressed that calmness prevailed in all stations with no incidents.
However, minor incidences were encountered at some polling stations whereby voters produced either party membership cards, expired identity cards, wrong voting cards or having been labeled as rejected in the voters roll for having registered more than once.
At Mogoditshane clinic some voters expressed some concerns as they alleged that residents of Mogoditshane were discriminating against them for voting in their village while they are not from their village despite the fact that they are residing in the area.
One voter was returned for carrying a voter registration card that is not his, but on inquiry that voter told the Returning Officer that his party collected the cards for safe custody and when returning the card, they mistakenly handed him the wrong cards.
At Mogoditshane clinic the second voting polling station had to be opened as voters turned up in large numbers and this according to the returning officer was done in order to allow as many as possible voter to cast their vote to meet the closing time. Ends
