Youths disallowed to vote

Two youths could not vote in the Francistown West Constituency this morning after it was discovered that when they registered they were not yet eligible to vote.
Returning officer, Ms Chandapiwa Monyadzwe, confirmed in an interview, that it appeared the two registered while they were still 17 years old and somehow got away with it.
However, Ms Monyadzwe said they could not vote today, as the system could not recognise them as eligible voters even though they had now turned18.
Meanwhile, Tebogo Buyendasi reports from Maitengwe that election officers had to travel long distances to Tutume to make calls since telecommunications lines in the area were down. Ends
