Elections excite youth

Gaborone Central Constituency recorded a large number of first time voters at the University of Botswana (UB) this morning.
Presiding officer, Ms Tshepho Mosweu, said despite the huge turnout of first time voters, she was happy they behaved well and understood procedures which made their job as polling officers easier.
“So far so good, and the queue is moving fast, and in a nutshell we haven’t encountered any challenges,” she said. Some first time voters said they were happy to exercise their democratic rights.
Contesting Gaborone Central are Mr Dumelang Saleshando of Botswana Congress Party, Revered Rupert Hambira of the Botswana Democratic Party, Mr Phenyo Butale of Umbrella for Democratic Change, and an Independent candidate, Mr Sidey Baitsile. ENDS
