Shashe West voter turnout impressive

Shashe West Constituency voter turnout was impressive as many voters said they started queuing an hour before polling stations opened at 6:00am today.

People were eager to cast their votes and areas such as Mathangwane, Sebina, Marobela, Marapong registered long queues as more people were still arriving. At Marapong the queue comprised both the young and old but the problem was the slow process of voting because some elders need a lot of guidance.

 Presiding officers revealed that they did not encounter any problems since they opened. They noted that voters were very cooperative and understating adding that people were coming in large numbers and were orderly.

Contesting in Shashe West, formerly Tonota North, Botswana Democratic Party’s Mr Fidelis Molao, Botswana Congress Part’s Motlhaleemang Moalosi, Umbrella for Democratic Change’s Bathuseng Gabatshele and Onkabetse Daniel as an independent candidate.

The constituency has nine polling districts with a total of 14 428 registered voters of which 8 521 are female and 5 907 males. ENDS
