He said that the collaboration of departments helped them broaden the operation.
“We were able to monitor government vehicle drivers, as we noticed that there are those who tend to leave their private vehicles and use government vehicle for personal use,” explained Chepete.
He said that the strategic points at which the road blocks were situated closed off all roads ensuring that the operation is as accurate as possible.
Kasane Station Traffic officer, Assistant Superintendent, Seabelo Gwamba said that 98 traffic offenders had been recorded .
He went on to say that the police are concerned with this number and the duration of which the offences were recorded.
Ass Spt Gwamba said that most of the traffic offences were due to road users disobeying traffic signs, followed by those driving without a licence.
However, he noted that they have also noticed that there are those who drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
“This is a tourism area thus we are concerned not only for the road user but also for the animals that roam around Kasane,” said Gwamba.
He advised road users to be cautious and to obey the traffic signs. ENDS
