My Star launches top 40

10 Mar 2014

Three My Star contestants Keemenao, Nicoma and Desmond bit the dust on Friday night (March 7) at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks during the top 40 launch.

Judges of the night were Master Dee and Kgomotso and Punah Gabasiane. The other judge, Shanti Lo was not in attendance. Three other contestants Molly, Prince, Mooketsi, Galaletsang and Lucia escaped the chop.

It was a tough choice for Master Dee who had to decide who to save between Prince and Mooketsi. He however decided to save both of them. As the contestants got up the stage, it appeared as if Peter was the audience’s favourite with almost everybody screaming his name.

The first five contestants Ontefetse, Agisanyang, Lewis, Khumo and Tumisang did it but not that better than Kago who got the audience up from their seats. The worst contestant of the night was Tshenolo who made Master Dee sleep the moment he started to sing.

Commenting on Tshenolo’s performance Master D said he (Tshenolo) wanted to go back home to Kang. All the three judges agreed that Tshenolo’s performance was not to standard and they encouraged him to improve.

Contestants whose performance impressed both the audience as well as judges were Elni, Motlha, Tshegofatso, Peter, Bakang, Patricia and Motheo with his dance moves though he lost the key of the song.

The moment the audience was about to lose interest, there came this young and active contestant (Patricia) with her dance moves. Punah said Patricia made her to come to the show that night, “Patricia, you are the one who made me to come to here today because the way you sang last week was really amazing,” she said.

She said she is amazed by this year’s talent. ENDS
