Otse resident, Galaletsang Ntwaagae, 39, is currently undergoing in-depth social welfare diagnostic assessment alongside her newborn child following an attempted murder charge.

Ntwaagae, who was released on bail last month, faces a single count of attempted murder contrary to Section 217 of the Penal Code of Botswana. The offence allegedly occurred on April 25 at Lesetlhana Ward in Otse.

Ntwaagae appeared before Senior Magistrate Vinga Kedikilwe-Johnson at the Lobatse Magistrate’s Court for a status hearing on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Tamela Mbulawa informed the court that the state was awaiting results from the forensic laboratory as well as the complete social welfare report regarding the mother and child.

Representatives from the social welfare office reported that they had conducted three supervised visits between the accused and her child. 

However, officials requested for time extension to conduct further evaluations and compile a formal diagnostic report.

The accused is scheduled to return to court on October 29. ENDS
