Murder accused, Gosaitse Kebonye, 41, has been remanded in custody for allegedly killing his sibling, Rebaone Kebonye on July 20.

Gosaitse, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Mr Daniel Nkau of Francistown Magistrate Court on Wednesday, was not asked to plead.

According to Directorate of Public Prosecutions State Prosecutor, Ms Keenetswe Radipolasi, investigations were still at an infancy stage, hence the request for a remand.

She further submitted that the safety of the suspect would be at risk if granted bail as emotions were still high among relatives.

Ms Radipolasi told the court that the State was still consulting with the deceased relatives.

She pointed out that the investigating officer was attending the deceased’s post-mortem, hence he could not avail himself to oppose or consent to bail.

For his part, the accused told the court that he would seek legal advice.

The matter was postponed to July 28 for mention. ENDS
