Botswana grants 64 citizenship
21 Jun 2026
The commemoration of the World Refugee Day on June 20 was a special one for the 64 refugees as they received their Botswana citizenship certificates.
Handing over the documents in Dukwi, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Major General Pius Mokgware said the citizenship would change their lives forever, adding that many left their countries of origin under challenging circumstances.
He therefore implored them intergrate with the locals, participate in all community activities and respect the Botswana flag and the laws that governed them.
Among those granted citizenship was 21-year-old, Ms Olebile Ncube, who has been staying at Dukwi Refugee Camp, since she was three-year-old, together with her family of six. ENDS
