UDC retains Tatisiding North ward

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) retained the Tatisiding North Ward with its candidate, Ms Keitumetse Tlhalerwa claiming victory with 335 votes during the by-election on June 20.
During the 2024 general elections, UDC won narrowly, garnering 321 votes, just one vote more than the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), which obtained 320.
In her speech, Ms Tlhalerwa promised to be the voice of Tatisiding North residents, saying she would advocate for improved services and initiatives that would benefit the community.
The Botswana Democratic Party, Ms Kwenzakile Sibunga came second with 299 votes, followed by Ms Thobekile Nchenje of the Botswana Congress Party with 163 votes.
Independent candidate, Mr Onkabetse Moloko came fourth with 64 votes, while independent candidates Mr Scotch Majama followed with 17 votes and Mr Phia Nyandoro of the Botswana Patriotic Front followed with 12 votes. Another independent candidate, Ms Helen Chinyepi came last with two votes.
The by-election came by after the passing of UDC Councillor Parkie Pius. ENDS
