Behind each track hit, captivating melody and enduring rhythm lies the skills and innovation of music producers talented individuals. Indeed, they play a crucial role in transcending genre boundaries to create fascinating auditory journeys.
Maun born music producer, Malaki Ipeleng is one of such producers who aims to create a signature sound that sets him apart and attracts artists who align with that vision. While preserving the artistic vision, he strives to ensure the final product meets industry standard and has the potential to succeed in the market.
“I consider being a music producer as a calling because through my passion and dedication, I managed to turn artists dreams, interpret and elevate their vision, blending technical mastery with emotional resonance to craft mesmerising experiences,” added Ipeleng.
He takes pride in his work that it provided a great opportunity to experiment with different genres and styles to showcase his versatility. He is of the view that achieving success in music production frequently demands persistence, and embracing challenges as learning opportunities.
While some producers focus on immediate financial return, Ipeleng is different as he is driven by the love of creating music rather than financial reward. He prioritises artistic merit and emotional impact of the music over its marketability because his mission is to nurture the local artists’ growth and bringing their vision to life, often acting as a partner/mentor rather than a service provider.
“My mission is to aid artists to unleash their creative potential and make outstanding music to succeed in the industry. I want to see them producing high quality internationally competitive content to break beyond local market limitation and I am proud that I assisted some whom were financially challenged by recording their albums free of charge”.
Many local artists, he said are talented but they could not realise their optimal potential to take their music career to the next level because of economic challenges and business acumen while some possess high talent and lacked the necessary skills for marketing, networking and consistent discipline production.
Ipeleng argued that local artists should treat their music works as a business citing that some do it for fun if not for quick cash. Professionalism, he said is key in the art industry as it builds trust, reputation and reliability.
He emphasised that artists should be professional in all interactions as some people view them as role models noting that unprofessional behaviour could severely damage their career regardless of talent.ENDS
