Four More Accused Granted Bail In Sethibe Case

23 Mar 2026

Four additional accused persons have been granted bail in the ongoing Tshepo Sethibe case involving a charge of offensive use of electronic communication before the Molepolole Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The development follows an application by the prosecution to amend the charge sheet to include four additional counts, bringing the total number of accused persons to five. The four accused were summoned from various parts of the country.
The quartet join accused number one, Tshepo Sethibe, who was previously charged in the matter.
The accused are 53-year-old self-employed, Idah Motamaloba of Parwe Ward in Mahalapye; 56-year-old Kebitsang Tlhapisang, an employee at Plastics residing in Gaborone West; 37-year-old unemployed, Bigboy Wasa of Newstance Ward in Kazungula and 47-year-old Justice Masendeke, an unemployed man residing in Broadhurst, Gaborone.
When delivering his ruling, Molepolole Principal Magistrate Solomon Setshedi stated that pleas for all accused persons would be reserved, noting that accused number one had already been granted bail by the High Court in Gaborone on March 17.
Magistrate Setshedi proceeded to grant the four bail on condition that they appear before court as and when required, report once a month to their nearest police station and refrain from making any offensive electronic communications on social media while on bail.
The matter is scheduled for mention on September 3.
Meanwhile, Sethibe did not appear before court and none of his legal representatives were present during the proceedings.
However, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Merapelo Mokgosi informed the court that he was reportedly on sick leave.
Sethibe was granted conditional bail by the High Court in Gaborone on March 17 after successfully appealing a previous decision by the Molepolole Magistrate’s Court, which had denied him bail. He faces a single count of offensive use of electronic communication. ENDS
